Is a Support Group Right for You?

Tanner Breast Health is pleased to offer you three support group options on the Breast Cancer Support Groups page.

Aren’t sure about attending a cancer support group?

A study bywww.canncersupportcommunity.org indicated that patients with general distress who participated in support groups experienced a:

  • Decrease in average length of hospital stay
  • Decrease in hospitalization frequency
  • Decrease in physician office visits
  • Decrease in emergency room visits
  • Decrease in number of prescriptions received

Ask Yourself

  • Do you feel like no one knows what you are going through?
  • Do you feel tired and overwhelmed?
  • Do you want to be supported by people who have similar experiences?
  • Do you need a place that will support and encourage you and what you are going through?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions now or would have answered “yes” in the past, Mind Over Cancer may be just the support group for you!

Designed for both people with cancer and their family members, attendees of Mind Over Cancer will learn new coping strategies, how to use your brain to decrease the stress caused by cancer and how to manage its effects on you and your family using:

  • Meditation
  • Mindfulness
  • Laughter
  • Activities
  • Sharing

Not Interested in a Support Group?

If you are feeling overwhelmed and are not interested in a support group, there is other support you can access. All you have to do is contact one of the Patient Navigators and they will work to meet your needs.

Remember, we care about you! And our mission is reflected by Tanner’s 100 percent commitment to help you conquer cancer and continue living life to its fullest with the ones you love.

Additional Resources
