Tanner Heart Care Team

Specializing in Matters of the Heart

When it comes to heart care, it is important to have a medical team focused on clinical excellence, innovation and compassion.

At Tanner, cardiac care is delivered by a team of cardiologists versed in a wide range of techniques, treatments and procedures to detect heart disease early, manage it effectively and clinically intervene when necessary.

Cardiac Electrophysiology

Cardiac electrophysiology (also referred to as clinical cardiac electrophysiology or electrophysiology) is a branch of the medical specialty of cardiology and is concerned with the study and treatment of rhythm disorders of the heart. Electrophysiologists are trained in the mechanism, function and performance of the electrical activities of the heart. They work closely with other cardiologists to assist or guide therapy for heart rhythm disturbances (arrhythmias). In addition to diagnostic testing of the electrical properties of the heart, electrophysiologists are trained in therapeutic and surgical methods to treat many of the rhythm disturbances of the heart. Therapeutic modalities employed in this field include antiarrhythmic drug therapy and surgical implantation of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators.

Cardiac Imaging

Noninvasive cardiac imaging refers to a combination of methods that can be used to obtain images related to the structure and function of the heart.

Cardiology - Interventional

Interventional cardiology is a branch of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter based treatment of structural heart diseases. Interventional cardiologists use catheters – thin, flexible tubes – to get inside blood vessels for diagnostic tests or to repair damaged vessels or other heart structures, often avoiding the need for surgery.

Cardiovascular Disease

Cardiologists specialize in diseases of the heart, lungs, and blood vessels and manage complex cardiac conditions such as heart attacks and life-threatening abnormal heart beat rhythms. Cardiologists also perform complicated diagnostic procedures such as cardiac catheterization, and consult with surgeons on heart surgery.

Vascular Surgery

A Vascular Surgeon is a surgeon with special qualifications in the management of surgical disorders of the blood vessels, excluding those immediately adjacent to the heart, lungs, or brain.
